An original piece, created especially for you.

I accept a limited number of commissions for Lowcountry Landscapes and Coastal Creations.

A commission is an opportunity to create something personal while still allowing me the freedom to work in the style and process that make my artwork uniquely mine.

Lowcountry Landscape Commissions

The marshes, waterways, skies, and changing light of the coast provide endless inspiration for my landscape paintings.

If there's a particular Lowcountry or coastal view that is meaningful to you, reference photographs are welcome. I'll use them as inspiration to create an original painting in my own style rather than an exact reproduction of the photograph.

Coastal Creation Commissions

My Coastal Creations begin with the colorful dried acrylic paint I've saved from my palettes—what I think of as little treasures—and transform it into something entirely new.

Commissioned Coastal Creations are available for subjects that complement my existing body of work, such as seahorses, herons, sea turtles, crabs, oysters, fish, and other coastal life.

We'll discuss your preferred subject, size, general color palette, and framing or finishing options. From there, I use my own process of selecting, cutting, stretching, layering, and manipulating pieces of dried paint to create an original that is uniquely yours.

How It Works

1. Start by completing the Commission Inquiry Form below and telling me a little about what you have in mind.
2. I'll contact you personally to discuss your idea, size, timing, framing or finishing options, and any reference photographs you would like me to consider.
3. Once we've agreed on the direction of the piece, I'll provide a final quote and estimated completion timeframe.
4. A 50% non-refundable deposit reserves your place on my commission schedule and allows work to begin. The remaining balance is due upon approval of the completed artwork and before shipping or delivery.

Timing

Most commissions require approximately 6–8 weeks from receipt of the deposit.

Timing may vary depending on the size and complexity of the artwork, my current commission schedule, drying and finishing time, and framing requirements.

If you have a particular date in mind, please include it with your inquiry. I'll let you know before accepting the commission whether that timeframe is realistic.

Pricing

Each commission is individually quoted based on the size, subject, complexity, and framing or finishing requirements of the piece.

You'll receive and approve the final price before your commission is accepted and the deposit is paid. There is no obligation to proceed simply because you've submitted an inquiry.

Your Commission & My Artistic Style

Before I begin, we'll agree on the important elements of your commission, including the subject, size, orientation, general color palette, and framing or finishing when applicable.

From there, I ask that you allow room for the artistic interpretation, color choices, texture, brushwork, composition, and spontaneous details that are part of my creative process.

The finished artwork will be an original interpretation—not an exact reproduction of a photograph or another piece of artwork.

Final Approval

When your artwork is complete, I'll provide photographs for your review.

Reasonable minor adjustments may be made when appropriate and when they are consistent with what we originally agreed upon. Significant changes to the composition, subject, palette, or artistic direction are not included.

If you decide not to purchase the completed artwork, your 50% deposit remains non-refundable, the remaining balance will not be due, and the artwork will remain the property of Sharon Durgom Art.

Because commissioned artwork is created specifically for you, completed and accepted commissions are final sale.
