Charleston Camellia Blue and Fuchsia

A Southern classic gets a colorful new interpretation in Charleston Camellia in Blue and Fuchsia original 6" x 6" dimensional artwork created from pieces of my own dried artist paint palette.

I save the layers of dried paint left behind as I work, then select and shape those colorful fragments by hand to create something entirely new. Here, they become the layered petals of a Charleston camellia.

This bloom unfolds in beautiful shades of turquoise, aqua, soft blue and creamy white, with glimpses of violet, pink and deeper jewel tones tucked between the petals. Metallic gold traces the irregular edges and folds, emphasizing the dimensional quality of the flower and catching the light from different angles.

A hand-drawn gold border surrounds the bloom, adding a final decorative detail while allowing the wonderfully imperfect shapes and markings of the original paint palette to remain the focus.

At 6" x 6", Charleston Camellia in Coastal Blue is a small original with plenty of presence, perfect for a bookshelf, small easel, gallery wall or as a distinctive gift for someone who loves Charleston, flowers and colorful Southern style.
