Charleston Camellia – Yellow and Turquoise

Inspired by the timeless beauty of Southern gardens, Charleston Camellia is an original 6" x 6" floral artwork created from pieces of my own dried artist paint palette.

Instead of discarding the layers of paint left behind as I work, I save them and transform them into something entirely new. For Charleston Camellia, those pieces have been layered and shaped into a dimensional bloom filled with soft buttery yellow, creamy white and metallic gold.

Peeking out from beneath the flower are unexpected touches of turquoise, coral, pink and green—the colors and markings preserved from the original paint palette. A hand-drawn gold border finishes the piece and gives this little camellia an almost jewel-like quality.

At 6" x 6", Charleston Camellia brings a small but distinctive touch of Southern charm to a bookshelf, gallery wall, bedside table or small easel.

Every fragment of dried paint is unique, making Charleston Camellia a one-of-a-kind original that cannot be exactly recreated.
